The story of the New Year Cake is-- once upon a time, there was a monster called 'Year'. In the winter, there was lack of food and Year came out to find food and hurt people sometimes. People were afraid of it. One person, named Gao, made some rice cakes and fed Year. Year loved the rice cakes and did not hurt people anymore.
